The Ideal Home Show and one photo I’m really excited about!

It is my favourite time of the year. First of all it’s the beginning of spring, which is my favourite season. It is also my birthday (and before you ask – I’m still young!). Finally it’s The Ideal Home Show which is definitely my favourite home show of all! I’m sad because it’s all behind me now (apart from the spring obviously). But I’m also very excited because now I get to tell you all about it! Well… I wish I could tell you about the wildest party ever with some pretty loud music and a bunch of very famous people. That did not happen…

But the Ideal Home Show happened (not exactly on my birthday, but close enough to count it as my wild party). So what is the Ideal Home Show anyway? It’s THE show for all the interior design, garden design, fashion and even food lovers! It happens every year at Olympia, London. It’s where under one roof you can find out about new trends in interior design, check out some pretty awesome interiors, visit real size houses, meet George Clarke and eat some damn good food! So if you’ve never been to that show before, there’s still time as the doors are open till the 9th of April (you can click here for your last-minute tickets).

If you can’t make it to the Ideal Home Show this year, then you should definitely check out this photo gallery of the best designs and ideas for your homes and gardens. I can’t deliver the burrito I’m afraid, but if you’re there you should definitely try it! And when it comes to George Clarke, well… I did not see him either, but I did meet someone pretty cool… evidence in the photo – but about that later.

So here’s your exclusive photo gallery of this year Ideal Home Show

First stop – Homes & Interiors (of course)

Yep, there were pretty long queues to get to the houses, so unfortunately we missed one (and we were there for the whole day!). Luckily the Ideal Home Show is always packed with great ideas and designs so we found ourselves somewhere else to be. Room sets designed by Good Homes were incredible. It felt like we were snooping around someone’s real home! Only this time with a bonus as at each room there was a list with all the lovely pieces they used in that design. So if you like it you know which shop you’ll be heading to next weekend…

If you ever spot converse trainers on the photo you can be sure it’s me as I rarely wear different shoes. And besides I don’t normally take photos of other people’s feet, I’m not that bonkers!

The next stop – outside living areas and gardens. And that is where I must admit I was impressed the most! I completely and utterly fell in love with all the garden ideas. So much so, after we came back from the Ideal Home Show I rushed to the shop and bought few plants for my garden (now I just need to find time to actually plant them).

Outside living & Gardens

How do you fancy a car refrigerator to keep your drinks cool while barbecuing with friends? I know my son would love that (minus the content).

In addition to all that, if you’re a fan of George Clarke’ TV series, you’ll get a chance  to see his amazing “space house” that rotates. I must admit – it is pretty awesome! Although there was no sign of Mr Clarke himself, maybe he had his face stuffed with that delicious buritto (if that’s the case – I totally forgive him).

Obviously no home show can be without all the beautiful things that you can buy. I know, I know, it’s another way to make us spend money, but that’s what shows like this are about. You like something – you buy it! And although most of those beautiful things’ price tags will scare you away, you can definitely find something to buy without braking the bank! (I’ve got myself a wooden tray and two garden lanterns – total spend – £11!)

Lighting is one of my weaknesses (along with cushions, blankets and tea cups). Therefore I was over the moon with the amount and styles of lighting at this year’s Ideal Home Show. Take a look for yourself:

Lighting

There’s me totally checking out the best lighting solutions, oblivious to world passing by and Rob taking photos of my bum.

If you’re planning on visiting the show head to the Styling Stage for tips and advice on how to use colour, how you should and how you shouldn’t style your home and many more ideas for your own home. If you brave enough you can even upload photos of your home and hear few words of wisdom from Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen himself!!!

Oh, and finally there’s that photo I was banging on about, although by looking at Laurence face I’m not convinced he is as excited as I am… (and I promise you, my hand wasn’t anywhere near where you think it was).

Have you been or are you planning on visiting this year’s Ideal home Show? Or maybe this post inspired you to go? Let me know what are your thoughts. And if you need more information about the show just click here and you’ll land on their original website.

Now I’m even more excited to go! Great post, it was so worth all the effort you went to with the photos – especially the one of you and Laurence. I really love the tiles in the Good Homes dining room – they’re gorgeous.

Yes, the tiles are beautiful. I’m already thinking how I can incorporate them into my house : ) I’m sure you will love everything there!
